Therapeutic Journeys for Elders
A wellness expedition designed specifically for seniors, combining Namchi’s serene environments with structured social activities to combat isolation and revitalize physical and mental wellbeing.
About the Event
Kalpavriksha Welfare Society’s Senior Citizen Support Network is organizing a comprehensive recreational tour to Namchi, creating therapeutic experiences and meaningful connections for elderly community members suffering from isolation.
Purpose of the Event
Social isolation has emerged as a critical health concern among our senior population, with profound impacts on mental health, cognitive function, and physical wellbeing. Many elders in our communities face diminishing social circles, mobility challenges, and decreasing opportunities for meaningful engagement. This extended recreational tour addresses these challenges by providing a carefully structured experience that combines the healing power of Namchi’s natural landscapes with purposeful social interactions and gentle wellness activities. The program is designed to break patterns of isolation, rebuild social confidence, create new friendship networks, stimulate cognitive engagement, and reconnect seniors with the joy of exploration and discovery. By removing participants from their routine environments and placing them in supportive community settings, we create opportunities for transformation that extend well beyond the tour itself.
Goal of the Event
The Senior Citizen Recreational Tour aims to engage 30 elderly participants in a life-enhancing experience that produces measurable improvements in wellbeing. Our specific goals include: reducing reported feelings of isolation by at least 40% among participants; establishing at least three new social connections per participant that continue after the tour; improving mobility and physical confidence through appropriately challenging activities; creating 10+ memorable shared experiences that provide ongoing conversation points; documenting senior stories and wisdom to honor their life experiences; and establishing a replicable model for therapeutic senior touring that can be expanded to other locations. The extended three-month format allows for multiple short expeditions catering to different physical ability levels, ensuring inclusive participation regardless of mobility challenges.
